100 Years of History, Anniversary Bank of Oklahoma

The Severs Building or Bank of Oklahoma Held its 100 year anniversary. There were actors from that period that banked there. Some of those people were Eleanor Roosevelt, George Smith, Babe Ruth, Alice Robertson, Jim Thorp, Tams Bixby, Frederick Severs Lawrence C. McAlister, Sara Bernhardt Philip Sousa, Ernestine Schumann-Heink and of course Me playing the part of Will Rogers. We all spoke a part in the calibration.
I, Marty Tipton, The Oklahoma Kid performed as Will Rogers and give many of the quotes of Will's  and performed some pretty fancy Rope Tricks like the Texas Skip right in the lobby of the Severs Building. It was fun and very professional. I was able to have them laughing and cheering with all the action I performed.
It was an outstanding cast and I was fortunate enough to pull off every trick without a hitch. We had several sponsors and The Oklahoma Arts Council Played a big part. Special thanks to Jim Eaton President of Bank of Oklahoma.

Annual Fall Festival of the Arts

What a great town. We all had a great time there for the many events them scheduled. I performed and give trick roping Lesson out and afterwards they had a live Auction. And of course I had to be a part the action an get a bidders number and there was a lot of items to chose from. They had a roping Dummy for everyone to try out and homemade Ice Cream. It was a real treat. There is a young man there, Tray who is one of the up and coming trick ropers of our time. He played in the band and also roped with me and he is already a great roper. I know he will be a star attraction in the trick roping arena. Over all it is one of the friendliest places I have been to and I look forward to returning there.
If you have Photos of any of the event please send them to booking@theoklahomakid.com and we will post them on line.

After 100 years, Severs Building to be feted

Reception to include famous faces of its past as hotel

Early Muskogee millionaire Frederick Severs did not live to see completion of the 10-story building bearing his name.

However, over the past 100 years, famous people stayed there when the building was a hotel, and regular folks banked there.

Downtown Muskogee Inc. will mark the Severs Centennial with a gala reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The reception will be in conjunction with the Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours fete. Three Rivers Museum will display photos and artifacts from the building’s early days. Light refreshments will be offered by Bank of Oklahoma, which has a branch in the Severs Building.

A few of the hotel’s famous “visitors” also will stop by, said Downtown Muskogee Inc. Executive Director Jonita Mullins. People who have stayed at the Severs Hotel include Will Rogers played by Marty Tipton AKA (The Oklahoma Kid) who Quoted some of Wills famous sayings and spun some spectacular rope rope tricks. Kid has fantastic resemblance to Will's look and mannerisms and also in attendance was Helen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sarah Bernhardt, Harry S. Truman as well as Mr.Severs

She picked up a rope the first day she was born. She loves Horses and everything she has a horse on it. She wears the same brand boots I do and has 20x shirts all over. My youngest just turned 3 she was born 09-09-09 at 9:00. What a surprise to have a daughter born at that time four nines is easy to remember. What a set of beautiful girls.

Supporting our Troops Vance AFB
Vance Air Force Base Mid-West City Oklahoma Western Day with Chester the Clown

Here I’m performing in the parade to promote attendance for Elk City Rodeo. It was quite a walk at 104' degrees outside. But No problem, I done all the great tricks and left them screaming and cheering from all the wild trick roping I performed. I kicked off the parade with a bang doing tricks like the running Texas Skip down the street jumping back and forth between a 22 foot horizontal loop. I was Number 2 in the Parade line up, meaning I was second person to kick of the parade after the Fire Trucks. Thanks to all of you in Elk city for the screaming out GO OKLAHOMA KID !
The day before the parade I went t every one of the schools and performed and invited them to the Rodeo. It worked out great. The Rodeo Clown came along and the Rodeo Queens and we even  brought a horse for the kids to pet. There are some great pictures of the Kids. It was one of the best Rodeos in the Nation. After the Rodeo the Bellamy Brothers Played Saturday Night and John Conlee on Friday. It was a super show it is a rodeo that is well worth the drive to see from any were. I would travel across the USA just to watch it. Words can’t explain how great a show it really was.
